Frequently Asked Questions

My iPhone doesn't appear in MirrorKit.

The video stream is laggy or choppy.

macOS asked for camera permission. Is that normal?

Yes. macOS treats your iPhone as a video capture device — the same way QuickTime Player does for iPhone screen recording. MirrorKit does not access any actual camera. Nothing is recorded or transmitted.

Does MirrorKit support touch input from the Mac to the iPhone?

Not in version 1.0. MirrorKit currently focuses on display only.

Does it work over Wi-Fi?

No. MirrorKit requires a USB connection for the lowest possible latency.

Which iPhones are supported?

Every iPhone running iOS 13 or later.

Which Macs are supported?

Any Mac running macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later, Intel or Apple Silicon.
